America (1971)

America are probably my favourite band and this is one of my favourite albums by them. It’s hard to imagine that anyone may not have heard ‘Horse With No Name’, ‘Sandman’ or ‘I Need You’, but I suppose there may be people out there that have had their heads buried for the last 45 years.

There are other great songs on the album, and certainly none of them are duff. It’s clear that they were enamoured by CSNY, but the song would still be strong even without the close vocal harmonies.

Nonetheless, Dan, Dewey and Glen staked their claim for pop stardom with this album and the rest is history.
