Billy Kaui (1977)

Formerly of the Hawaiian band Country Comfort, which disintegrated amidst drug and alcohol problems, Billy Kaui produced his only album and then promptly died a month later at the age of just 28. A tragic loss in my book as this album would surely only point the way to the possibility of great things to come.

‘Words To A Song’ would be covered by Babadu on his album, two years later.

Nice bass in this PD, just bubbling under the melody. These Hawaiin artists produced so many great tracks, which I’ll be honest, have only come to my attention this last year or so. Fantastic period in their history during the late 70’s to early 80’s. Another great find…

You’re right, this a great album, and relatively inexpensive on Amazon. I will try and load up some more Hawaiian stuff when I get a chance.
